Terms of Service
FreeLivePoll is operated by BaseThread LLC, a California limited liability company (“BaseThread LLC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and BaseThread LLC and govern your use of FreeLivePoll, the website at FreeLivePoll.com and its installable web app (“the Service”). By creating a poll, voting, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
FreeLivePoll is not offered in the European Union or the European Economic Area. If you are located there, you may not use the Service, including through a VPN or any other tool that hides your location.
FreeLivePoll lets anyone create a live poll, share it by link or QR code, and see votes arrive in real time. Creating a poll and voting do not require an account. Polls are unlisted: anyone with a poll’s link or code can open it, vote, and see its results, so do not put anything in a poll that you would not want shared with the people you send it to.
2. Free use, accounts and age
The free Service has no limit on the number of voters and shows no ads. You may create a free account with your email address to keep your polls longer. You must be at least 13 years old to create a poll or an account. Voting requires no account and never asks for a name or email; the Privacy Policy explains the device token and network signal a vote keeps.
3. Paid plans
FreeLivePoll Pro is an optional subscription, billed at $5 per month or $39 per year. The Event Pass is an optional one-time purchase of $9 that unlocks Pro features for 7 days and does not renew. Payments are processed by Paddle as merchant of record, and charges appear on your card or bank statement as BaseThread.
Automatic renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price shown at checkout, until you cancel. Before you buy a subscription, we ask you to confirm that you understand it renews automatically. You can cancel at any time online with one click on your account page, or through the link in your Paddle receipt, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We email you a reminder at least once a year with the price and how to cancel, and we tell you before any price change takes effect.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the questions, answers and other content you put in a poll (“Your Content”). You grant BaseThread LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to run the Service, including showing it to anyone with your poll’s link and generating link preview images. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to post it. Your Content must follow the Content Policy below. We may remove or hide any poll that we believe breaks these Terms or the Content Policy.
5. Poll results
Results are shown as they happen and are not a scientific survey. Votes are limited per device, not per person, unless the creator turns on strict voting. Do not rely on a FreeLivePoll result for any legal, financial, electoral or safety decision.
6. Acceptable use
You will not: break the law using the Service; post content that the Content Policy prohibits; interfere with the Service, including automated or scripted voting, scanning poll codes, or overloading it; attempt to access another user’s account or poll controls; or use the Service to collect personal information from voters.
7. Availability and changes to the Service
We may change, suspend or stop any part of the Service. Polls expire and are deleted on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for content lost after a poll expires.
8. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements, or that votes or results will be complete or accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BASETHREAD LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold BaseThread LLC harmless from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
11. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to Section 12, the venue for any permitted court proceeding is Santa Clara County, California, and you and BaseThread LLC consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
12. Binding arbitration and class action waiver
Read this section carefully. It affects how disputes between you and BaseThread LLC are resolved and limits your rights to bring a lawsuit or class action.
Individual arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis. You and BaseThread LLC each waive any right to a jury trial and any right to participate in a class action.
Carve-outs. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court for disputes within that court’s jurisdiction, or (b) seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or unauthorized use of intellectual property or of the Service.
13. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If you live in the United Kingdom, Sections 11 and 12 apply only to the extent those laws allow, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.
14. No waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
15. Export and sanctions compliance
You represent that you are not located in, and will not use the Service from, any country subject to a U.S. government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. government restricted-party or sanctions list.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new date, and tell account holders by email about material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Language
These Terms are provided in several languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version controls, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.

Privacy Policy
BaseThread LLC, a California limited liability company, is the data controller for FreeLivePoll. This Privacy Policy describes what BaseThread LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you create a poll, vote, or use a FreeLivePoll account, and why.
The short version
Voting requires no account, no name and no email. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or build profiles of voters. We keep poll data only as long as the plan it was created on allows, then delete it.
If you vote
- Your vote: the answer you chose and the time.
- A random voter token: stored in a cookie and your browser’s storage on FreeLivePoll.com, so your device has one vote per poll and can change it. It identifies the device’s vote, not you, and is never used on any other website. We use this identifier only to support the internal operations of the Service (keeping polls fair and secure), never to contact anyone or for advertising.
- Abuse signals: to spot scripted or repeated voting, we derive a one-way hashed signal from your connection and browser type. It is used only to flag suspicious bursts of votes to the poll’s creator and to tell reports from different devices apart, never to block you, and is deleted when the poll’s data is deleted.
- Strict voting: some paid polls turn on strict voting, which limits one vote per device using a hashed device fingerprint (characteristics of your browser and device). Every voter sees a notice and is asked before the fingerprint is taken, and can decline and leave the poll. The fingerprint is used only to stop repeat votes on that poll and is deleted with the poll’s data.
- No analytics on the voting page. We count votes on our servers; the voting page loads no analytics or tracking script.
If you create a poll
- Poll content: the question and answers you write, and the results.
- A private admin link or token, stored on your device, which lets you close, reopen, edit, reset or delete your poll. We store only a hashed copy.
- Content safety checks: poll text is checked automatically when you publish, using a blocklist and an AI safety model run on Cloudflare’s infrastructure, to stop prohibited content. Polls reported by voters may be reviewed by us.
If you create an account
- Your email address, to sign you in with a one-time link or code (no passwords) and to identify your account. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend.
- Your polls and plan, so you can see your history and use paid features.
If you buy Pro or an Event Pass
Paddle is the merchant of record and processes your payment. We receive your email, the product you bought, and the status of the purchase, subscription or refund. We never receive or store your card details. Paddle’s privacy notice governs the payment data it handles.
Website analytics
On the creator, presenter, account and marketing pages (never the voting page), we use PostHog in cookieless mode to count a small number of anonymous events, such as “poll published”, to understand how the product is used. On the marketing pages we also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without fingerprinting. We also keep aggregated counts of polls and votes on our servers. No advertising or cross-site tracking is used. The events carry counts (for example, how many answers a poll has), never your question or answers, and are tied only to a random id that lasts for one browser tab. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we send no events and load no analytics script at all.
Service providers
- Cloudflare (hosting, realtime, storage, security, content safety models, cookieless page-view analytics on the marketing pages)
- Resend (sign-in emails)
- Paddle (payments, merchant of record)
- PostHog (cookieless product analytics)
- Google Search Console (search performance of our public pages; no visitor data from us)
Each processes data only to provide its service to us.
How long we keep data
| What | Kept |
|---|---|
| Anonymous polls | Up to 7 days waiting for a first vote, then 24 hours of voting, then results for 7 days, then deleted |
| Free-account polls | Results for 1 year after the poll closes |
| Pro and Event Pass polls | Until you delete them or your account |
| Voter tokens, abuse signals and strict-voting fingerprints | Deleted with the poll’s data, or earlier |
| Account email | Until you delete your account |
A creator can delete a poll and all of its votes at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and you can delete your account from your account page (My polls, then Delete account). Depending on where you live (including the UK and California), you may have further rights, including to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact hello@freelivepoll.com.
Where FreeLivePoll is offered
FreeLivePoll is not offered in the European Union or the European Economic Area, and visitors from there see a notice instead of the Service.
Legal bases (UK)
For visitors in the United Kingdom: we process poll and vote data to provide the Service you asked for (contract), abuse signals to keep polls fair and the Service secure (legitimate interests), strict-voting fingerprints only with your consent, and payment records to meet legal obligations.
International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
FreeLivePoll is not directed at children under 13, and you must be 13 or older to create a poll or an account. Voting never asks for a name, email or account, so teachers can run polls in class without students creating accounts. To keep voting fair, each vote is stored with a random device token and a scrambled network signal. They are used only to give each device one vote and to flag vote-stuffing, never for advertising or profiles, and they are deleted with the poll’s results. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new date, and account holders are told by email about material changes.

Refund Policy
FreeLivePoll is free to use, with unlimited voters and no ads, and no purchase is required at any point.
FreeLivePoll Pro ($5 per month or $39 per year) and the Event Pass ($9, one time, 7 days) are optional, and appear on your card or bank statement as BaseThread. Paddle is the merchant of record, so refunds are requested from and decided by Paddle under its Refund Policy and Buyer Terms.
Refund requests are accepted within 14 days of the purchase date and are reviewed by Paddle. You can submit one through the link in your Paddle receipt email, or write to us and we will raise it for you. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Consumers in the UK and some other regions have statutory cancellation rights that apply in addition to this.
Canceling Pro. You can cancel at any time from your account page or your Paddle receipt. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.

Content Policy
FreeLivePoll is for asking questions and voting on them. Polls are checked automatically when published, and anyone can report a poll.
Not allowed in any poll:
- Hate speech, or attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability or serious disease.
- Sexual content, and any content that sexualizes minors.
- Threats, incitement to violence, or glorification of violence.
- Content that promotes self-harm or suicide.
- Harassment, bullying, or polls targeting a private person.
- Links, phone numbers, and anything designed to scam, phish or collect personal information from voters.
- Illegal content, including content that infringes someone else’s copyright or trademark.
- Impersonating another person or organization.
Mild language and lighthearted polls are fine.
What happens: a poll that fails the automatic check cannot be published, and the creator is told why. A poll reported by 3 different devices is hidden (“under review”) for everyone until we review it. A report about self-harm reaches us right away, without hiding the poll. We may restore it, or remove it, and tell the creator why. To appeal, contact hello@freelivepoll.com.
Report a poll: use the Report link at the bottom of every poll, or write to hello@freelivepoll.com.
Copyright
If you believe content on FreeLivePoll infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@freelivepoll.com including: your contact details; the work you believe is infringed; the poll’s link; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to infringing content and, in appropriate cases, end the accounts of repeat infringers. If your poll was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
